Cannot access virtual centre server or infrastructure client

I am completely new to VMware and I have inadvertently powered off my virtualized virtual centre server and can no longer access it or the infrastructure client to power it on again.

The only solution I can think of is to restart the host, as the VC server is set to power on automatically but I am not sure if this will work if it's current state is powered off and there must be a better way of doing this.

Any help would be gratefully received.

hi,

you can do this by starting the virtual center server service in the machine.

if it is windows machine, then go to services,msc, and start the virtual center service.

thsi will start the vc server again.

My VC server itself is virtualized and I cannot access it to power it up.

I don't think this is a problem with the service but getting the server booted up.

Just point your Virtual Infrastructure Client to the host that has your VC server on it. Log in with local credentials, find the VM with VC, and then power it on.

If you don't have the client, then point your browser to the host it is on, and download/install the VI Client. And then perform the above step.

1) Just connect to your ESX host with the VI Client.

2) You will need local credentials on the ESX Server either root or another user and su to root.

3) Power up the VM
