A sync'ing feeling : Windows Mobile

VMWare 6.5 GA came out a few days ago do I downloaded it and installed it. Then I crossed my fingers, dotted my eyes and hoped that it would rectify the problems. Alas the problem persists. They look a little different though. Here is what I have: I am running a fully up-to-date Kubuntu Hardy as the host with Windows XP/SP3 fully updated guest. I have Active Sync 4.5.0 installed on the guest. To keep Linux from attempting to manage the device when I connect it I have created a blacklist file in /etc/modprobe.d /etc/modprobe.d$ cat blacklist-wwm5 #==================================== #Black List the Windows Mobile 5 PDA #==================================== blacklist cdc_ether blacklist rndis_host When I plug the Windows Mobile 5 PDA in I see the following lines in the /etc/log/messages file appear: Oct 1 11:17:15 lemix kernel: [http://92884.519803|http://92884.519803/] rtc: lost 49 interrupts Oct 1 11:17:15 lemix kernel: [http://92885.094391|http://92885.094391/] usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 Oct 1 11:17:16 lemix kernel: [http://92885.288164|http://92885.288164/] usb 2-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice Oct 1 11:17:18 lemix kernel: [http://92887.436867|http://92887.436867/] usb 2-2: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 Oct 1 11:17:18 lemix kernel: [http://92887.755430|http://92887.755430/] usb 2-2: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 On the VM I see a an icon that looks like a phone on a modem appear. If I hover over it it correctly reports that it found a Dell Axim X51v. In Windows I see a New Device Is Found message and it attempts to install the device. It also recognizes the device as a Dell Axim X51v. After a short period it says that it had trouble installing. When I look at the device manager I see a new Network Adapater: Windows Mobile Device and it shows that it has problems. A number of people have suggested that the Advanced Networking be turned off. On my Mobile 5 device, I am not seeing that as an option. So, here I am again, asking if anybody is having any luck getting this to work and if there is a workaround or an official means of correcting this problem.

To reply to my own post. I asked the same question about a PALM device because it was having the same problem. I got an answer there that I applied here and it now works! If you are experiencing the same problem take a look at:
