Esxi import "from url" virtual appliance failing with "The remote server returned an error:(426) connection closed; transfer aborted"

my url target is: ftp://intranet.server/pub/vmware/esxi/ovf/VMware_Studio-1.0.0/VMware_Studio-1.0.0.ovf

I can ftp properly and fetch the files from the server without problem.

import from market place and import from local storage (c:\tmp) works fine

url -- ftp:// does not work for me (vsftpd on CentOS-4/5 x86_64 or ftpd NetBSD 3.1 i386)

url -- http:// works fine, ymmv
