Performance internal Switch with ESX 3.0.2

Hello

I have two ESX Server with ESX 3.0.2, both have a internal Switch for the VMs. All the VMs are connected to this switch. One of the server has a 100 MB NIC, the other a 1 GB NIC connected to this internal switch. The SC is on a separate NIC / switch.

When I make network performance tests between the VMs on the same ESX server, I see that the network performance of the VMs on the ESX server with the 1 GB NIC are three times faster as the VMs on the ESX sever with the 100 MB NIC.

Does the internal switch performace depends on the physiscal NIC connected to the internal switch?

Thanks

Hello,

VM to VM on the same vSwitch should not be dependent on the hardware but the load on the vSwitch. Once you get out of the vSwitch to the physical NIC then you bring that into the equation.
