Error 1304 when installing Workstation 6.0.5-109488

I am updating my 6.0.4 to 6.0.5-109488 because my 6.0.4 installation told me there was a newer version. The installer uninstalled my prior version, rebooted, then on the install of 6.0.5 it progresses pretty well until I get Error writing to file c:\Program Files\Vmware\Vmware Workstation\pkg\autorun.inf - Retry/ Cancel. In Explorer that file does not exist and is normally used only for CD/DVD autorun creation. Anyone had this experience? I cannot run VMWare because I don't have an older 6.0.4 install file.

I tried going back a version and that did not work either. However, it was not the VMware install files. It turned out to be McAfee 8.0i. When I turned off the A/V scanning, everything installed just fine. It had never been a problem in the past, but some change in the corporate A/V rules prevented writing that file. Hope this helps someone.
