ok it looks like that was just my session timing out as I was troubleshooting ... I can get a session ticket now ...

but I STILL don't get my console window to open
I get no response by trying to run it directly from a command prompt ...
$ ~/.mozilla/firefox/0riavqpq.default/extensions/VMwareVMRC@vmware.com/plugins/vmware-vmrc -h "localhost:8333" -M "16"
it just hangs
It would seem that there is an issue with libexpat in Hardy Heron. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/expat/+bug/218963
I encountered it when I tried to run the remote console directly from the command line
./vmware-vmrc: error while loading shared libraries: libexpat.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
so I did this ...
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libexpat.so.1 /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0
I also had to ...
sudo apt-get install libsexymm2 libview2
and now I'm kinda stuck with ...
./vmware-vmrc: error while loading shared libraries: libvmwarebase.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
ok, never mind the lib problems, I was running vmware-vmrc from the bin dir and not the parent which uses the lib dir that has everything needed
it does just hang when I try to start it though ...
~/.mozilla/firefox/0riavqpq.default/extensions/VMwareVMRC@vmware.com/plugins$ VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=yes ./vmware-vmrc
at this point <ctrl><c> does not kill it, nor does a kill -9 from another prompt ... I have to reboot to make the process go away
