1. Re: VMWare modules do not compile on latest debian 2.6.26-1 kernel
nick.couchman Aug 29, 2008 6:30 PM (in response to arnaud.pn)You can search for the vmware-any-any patch on Google and see if that works, but it hasn't been updated in 9 months, I think. May not work for that kernel. Any reason you need/want to run the latest Debian O/S on your host? I'd run a "stable" O/S on the host and leave the cutting edge O/S for the guest.

2. Re: VMWare modules do not compile on latest debian 2.6.26-1 kernel
vmdeb_user Aug 30, 2008 11:02 AM (in response to nick.couchman)Actually there is a new version of the patch, available here : http://groups.google.com/group/vmkernelnewbies/files
Even though this patch gets the vmware server to work, we end up facing other problems when trying to power on the virtual machine created. So, the best solution available now is gowngrading the kernel's version
here is the tutorial for the latest kernel: http://groups.google.com/group/vmkernelnewbies/web/how-to-install-vmware-in-2-6-26-linux-kernel

3. Re: VMWare modules do not compile on latest debian 2.6.26-1 kernel
holycow Feb 17, 2009 1:02 PM (in response to vmdeb_user)I thought I had it working with the .d patch but it looks like a kernel recompile is required with that too.
