I've had beta 2 running just fine on a quad core box running Centos 4 (2.6.9-67.0.20.ELsmp #1 SMP Thu Jun 26 08:14:55 EDT 2008 x86_64 x86_64). This weekend I upgraded the beta bits (which had stopped working) to RC 1.
The upgrade appeared to go well, but after it completed whenever I log in to the WebUI I get the error "web service not available".
When I try and use vmrun I also get errors.
vmrun start WinXP.vmx*
Error: Malformed hostname parameter. For the given service provider, the hostname must be a URL, in the form https://<hostname>:<port>/sdk
I'm not seeing any errors in /var/log/vmware/hostd.log.
I'm getting errors in /var/vmware/webAccess/proxy.log:
I've completely removed the old Beta install (including /etc/vmware and /var/log/vmware) and reinstalled. The reinstall went great, but I get the same result.
IPv6 is disabled and iptables are clear. There is no firewall running and all of this worked fine under the beta 2 bits.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have found the solution.
The hosts file on this box had localhost mapped to the real IP instead of 127.0.0.1.
I had tried repointing proxy.xml to 127.0.0.1 but that was still not working. Now I have restored localhost in hosts.
Betas 1 & 2 were fine with this arrangement but RC1 is hosed by it
