This host is currently being managed by the virtualCenter with ip address xx.xx.xx.xx.

I recently lost my physical VC 2.5 and did a complete reinstall. When I try to add my two host (ESX3.5) I get the following error "This host is currently being managed by the virtualCenter with ip address xx.xx.xx.xx." and the host is shown disconnected. I really don't want to rebuild the hosts, is there a *.conf file that I can edit and put in the new VC IP address? Thanks!

perhaps you need to uninstall the VC agent from the ESX hosts manually. See this post for details...

That is just a confirmation that you actually want to move the hosts management functions to a diffrent Virtualcenter server. If you confirm it the host should then connect to the new VC. If it doesn't then you need to look at agent problems. The most common one I run into is that he directory /tmp/root-vmware is missing on the host.

Having split my infracstructure from 1 VC into 3 seperate VC's as well as having to rebuild the VC a few times I've seen that message more times than I can count
