Remote operation of VMware Workstation

I know how to remotely access the virtual machine, via VNC. But how can I remotely control VMWare Workstation 6 itself, to start/stop the virtual machine or point the virtual DVD drive at an image file on the host, from another machine than the one running VMware?

You remote-in to the host running VMware Application.

For Windows host, that is normally Remote Desktop Connection.
