24 Day uptime for ESX 3.5 ... so far so good

Well the majority of our servers have been running 3.5 Update 1 / Build 82663 without issue for 24 days. No hiccups or flaws so far, everything is running smooth.

We also updated to VC 2.5 Update 1.

Our server configurations include (12) Dell 2950 / PERC 6 ; (2) Dell R900 ; (1) Dell 6850

that definatley is good news. You always here about problems and what should I do... but knowing things are working well, that is a great plus.

Congratulations!

I think it just may be time to "bite the bullet"

That's good to hear. We haven't gone to 3.5 yet, mainly because of the mentality if it aint broke, don't fix it. I've been testing 3.5 out some nice new little tweaks for sure. Still seems like there are a few too many small hickups for me to move over. Soon enough we'll have to man up and switch over

It is nice to hear a good story above a clean move to 3.5 though Smiley Happy gives me hope

We upgraded to VC 2.5 update 1; updated (by wiping out first) 45 hosts to 3.5 base and then applied all 30 patches via patch updater over the past 2 weeks. everything has been running fine (still bugs around alarms is still there ), but all and all no issues. In fact, we have noticed that the memory overcommitment is better with ESX 3.5 (all 30 patches). In one datacenter we run over 150 xp vm on 3 hosts. With 3.5 (base) the memory usage on each host was 90%. Now with 3.5 (30 patches) the memory usage is 70%.

Good times for all... goooooood times

Updated VC to 2.5U1 and have been very pleased with the performance and features. We've upgraded (rebuilt) a server in a remote site to 3.5U1 and just got done shipping a VM over via NetApp replication and starting it up on NFS over there and all is well.

Some stability issues with 3.0.2 seem to be resolved with the new VC agents. We're seeing lower CPU utilization in the clusters as well.

nothing negative to report at this point.
