Virtual center fails to restart

We have identified a reproduceable problem with our virtual center 2.0.2 installation running on windows 2003 R2 server against SQL Server 2005 SP2. We have a workaround for this problem, but I believe there has to be some config somewhere to prevent this from happening.

To reproduce the problem, we shut down the virtual center server. When the server restarts, and the virtual center service restarts the following error is recorded in the vmx log

"ODBC error: (01000) - [ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionRead (recv())." is returned when executing SQL statement "UPDATE VPX_LOCK SET ID = 0"

Failed to intialize VMware VirtualCenter. Shutting down...

Our workaround to this solution, is to log into the SQL server, and run the command sp_who, then kill off all the stale sql sessions from the virtual center service. Once this has been done, the service starts fine.

Any ideas on how to stop this happening ?

Looks like updating to Virtual Center 2.0.2 update 3 fixed the problem, even though it wasn't listed as a resolved issue.

VMWare admitted that their is a problem where sql connections are not released on shutdown of the virtual center. Might get fixed sometime.
