ESX 3.5 Dropped Pings in VM

Hello,

I have just migrated a physical monitoring server to virtual and am starting to see some strange ping behavior.  The virtual server was dropping pings to some physical servers (most where fine), I then stopped the monitoring software and the constant ping that I was running went to 100%.  All the servers ping fine from physical to physical and virtual (except the monitoring server) to physical.

Is there a limit on how many pings the firewall on an ESX server have receive before it starts dropping packets, if so how can I change this?

Thanks,

Peter

I have just changed the NIC Teaming on my hosts from "Route based on IP hash" to "Route based on the originating virtual port ID" and this has stopped the dropping of packets within my VMs.

Hello

You can also add some network cards to your server and make an NIC teaming and use the link agregation in its physical switch.
