Virtual Center Service will not start on boot…but will start manually

I am having an issue with the Virtual Center Service on my server. This server is running Virtual Center as well as a local install of SQL Server 2005 EE with sp2. When you boot up the server I receive the following error.

"Description:

The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( VMware VirtualCenter Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Failed to initialize VMware VirtualCenter. Shutting down...."

If I manually start the service it works properly. It is also worth noting that prior to this error message I get a SQL Server Error stating that the SQL account used to access the VMWare Database failed. Based on the other SQL Server event entries I believe this is a case of SQL not starting up completely before Virtual Center tries to access the install. If this was the problem, I would think that the default service setting that tries to restart the service every 5 minutes would kick in. It is not.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Server Info

Win2k3 EE SP2

SQL Server 2005 EE SP2

Virtual Center 2.5.0 build 64192

Virtual Center service is using Local System account

ODBC connection is setup to use SQL authentication and has dbo access to VMWare Database and MSDB database.

make your VirtualCenter a dependancy of the SQL instance, your VC is attempting to start before your SQL instance has started.

Tom,

Thanks. That fixed the issue. I used the registry to edit the dependencies on the VC service, rebooted.....no more error.
