VC snmp traps not reaching Systems Management Server

I've implemented ESX 3.5 and VC 2.5. The monitoring systems is Computer Associates Spectrum OneClick.

I've added all the MIB's (ESX and VC MIB's). The mibs have been set for their event category etc.

For Example I have configured Object ID 1.3.6.1.4.1.6876.0.1 (vmPoweredOn) and Object ID 1.3.6.1.4.1.6876.0.2 (vmPoweredOff)

My understanding is that whenever I power a VM on or off a trap should be sent.

There is a firewall inbetween the ESX server and the monitoring server however the ports are open (I can see traffic being accepted when testing with a telnet session etc). Both ports 161 and 162 are open.

VC Management Server configuration is configured correctly with the correct Receiver URL - address has been tested with both fqdn and IP, port 162 is set and the community string is correct. I can ping the Spectrum server from the VC server.

Is there something I'm missing?

Yes they are.

No traffic is being dropped either.

I re-created this alarm within VC - it now works.... weird.

Need to do some customization within Spectrum however, so alarms can be cleared after states resume for the VM's.
