Poweroff and Reset by Player?

Vista as a guest may run into a state where its internal poweroff button cannot be reached. How do I tell VMware Player to send Poweroff or Rest to the VM (as it can be done easily with VMware Workstation)?

Does 'CTRLALTINSERT' not work for you when your VM has focus of your keyboard?

In the critical state of the vm that I mentioned, it did not effectuate a response.

Opening the vm in VMware WS and using its Reset button did work.

Changing the Player preferences to power off rather than suspend seems to send a power off signal to the VM rather than just killing the player application when you exit player.
