how to add shared disk with cluster-node

I'm creating a virtual machine as nodeA. I added 1 hard-disk(with SCSI controller 0:0 ) , 2 vmxnet ethernet cards. I changed the config file of virtual machine by adding disk.locking="false". And Now When I add the second disk as shared one, then while powering on the VM, it is giving an error that ".vmdk cant be open..ensure it was created by THICK option." For this shared disk I made the SCSI-controller( 1:0) as "virtual".

How to add this option????

Do I need to change the config( ..making it disk.locking=false) file of SECOND Virtual machine also..??

PS - Which version of ESX are you running and what OS are you virtualizing?

Creating a shared LUN must be done via the Service Console, the VC-Client doesn't provide the option.

You need to perform the following command.

vmkfstools -c 64G -d thick -a lsilogic /vmfs/volumes/xxxxxxxxxx/yyyyyyyyyyyyyy/VMName_Disk_x.vmdk

Hope this helps a bit.
