Does anyone have a fix for this? i have the same problem. I am trying to setup this on my Vista ultimate laptop. Please help.
Not sure why this worked but the important thing is, it did. Had exactly the same problem with VMW 6.0.3 on Vista Ultimate. I was a local admin with full control over the VM files and folder by being a member of the Administrators group. However, I added my account to the ACL with full control and problem went away. Probably another Vista "feature".

Yes, UAC: to protect you from .. er, um, yourself?
Off topic, but you don't really run programs with full administrator permissions, even if you log on as administrator. You might want to have a look at these articles:
BTW: I have not tried his "power toys", my host uses sudo
I ran into this problem for the first time today after running VMware Workstation 6.x for over 6 months. The error appeared on VM's that I have been using for months. I "got around" the issue by choosing "Run as Administrator" when launching VMWare Workstation. The only change I made last night was to install the VMware Disk Mount utility, maybe this is the cause of the problems? I'm using Windows Vista Business.
I am also getting similar error... can you please tell me how to provide ACL access to current user, i am new user to VISTA.
