I recall VM has some assessment tool for determining which physical server is a good candidate for virtualization. Does anyone knows where I can get that tool?

I believe you are talking about Capacity Planner. I am not sure who you would get it from, but you can get a free 25 server license for it. I would talk to your VMWare sale rep.

Guided consolidation which is part of the VC for 3i does a cut down form of this.

The Capacity Planner tool can only be used by VMware Partners and you have to undertake training. Contact a partner or VMware sales who can assist. There are also tools available from third parties, such as PlateSpins PowerRecon.
