cannot create virtual machine

When I try to create a virtual machine I get the error:

"The request refers to an object that no longer exists or has never existed"

Running ESX 3.0.2

It looks like this is only happening when creating VMs through the Virtual Center. If I connect directly to ESX using the vi client I can successfully create virtual machines.

Anyone have an idea?

If you are on on VC, you can't create a VM on local storage, they have to be accessible to each other when you use DRS.

Is this what you are doing?

Sorry, should have mentioned that this was working fine for some time. I am not attempting to create a VM on local storage. I have 2 ESX servers and currently have VMs running on the datastore where I am trying to create a new VM.
