I have read differnt information regarding USB controller and the server 2.0 beta 1. Are usb devices supported using x64 bit host OS with a x64 bit guest.
What kind of host / guest - os would you like to install / use? Windows, Linux?
What USB-Device should be supported?
I am using windows xp 64 for both the host and guest. I do not have any USB controllers listed in the guest. I do not have it listed as hardware that I could add. I added usb.generic.autoconnect = "true" to the VMX file but it didnt make a difference. I have read about people having issue with ubuntu and usb so I tried that.
The USB device I want to use is a USB key (mass storage) and USB for a license key required for an application to run. This works with workstation.
Tried to look for. But my Windows XP 64 has no valid key (need to look at office, but could last > 10 days).
On Ubuntu 7.10 64bit I was also not able to share a USB-Key to my Windows XP (32bit) or OpenSuSE 10.3
Thanks for the reply. From what I read USB 2.0 and a 64 bit guest OS were the new things for 2.0 which is exactly why I am trying, however, I cannot not get USB to work at all. In the guest device manager there is not even any USB controllers listed. I figured there would be more reponse to this but I guess not that many people have a similar set up.
IIRC USB is not supported in beta1, wait for a later beta or the RC?
