ESX 3i installable can be downloaded.

ESX Server 3i Installable is supported only on Dell 2950 (full support) and on HP DL380 G5 (experimental support).

          Ok Great.

Download the esx 3i installable and installed it in vmware workstation 6.0.2

          The Hardware is a PC:

          Host OS : XP SP2 32 Bit

          Motherboard : ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe
CPU : AMD Athlon X2 6400+ Black Edition Dual Core
               Memory : 6 GB
               Harddisk : Model SAMSUNG SP2504C IDE SATA-II
After creating a vm for esx3i in workstation 6.0.2 and installing esx 3i in it I ran into the following issues:
1.) I created in vmware workstation 6.0.2 a custom vm( select for guest os other and for version other, 1 GB disk size for hard disk , because esx is not a linux os) and deleted the floppy drive from vm!!
In the first step I use 512 MB for Memory , but ESX 3i Setup comes up with the following message:
"The system has found a problem on your machine and cannot continue. Not enough memory above to relocate"
So power off vm and give it 1024 MB and started installation again.
2.) esx 3i reported running an unkown cpu. So did an bios update for the asus motherboard and did an other esx 3i install.
Now esx 3i reported the right cpu in the install setup.
3.) When installing esx 3i installation stopped at vmkernel loading.
stopped vm and added in the vmx config file the following:
monitor_control.enable_svm = TRUE (thank to xtravirt)
4.) Added e1000 like xtravirt descibed to get network running.
Now esx 3i runs in workstation 6.0.2:D
               Next steps.
