Hello all
I've noticed this problem since ESX 3.0.2 (text mode or graphical install) when attempting to install ESX 3.0.2 or 3.5 on either a SATA CD-ROM or USB portable CD-ROM drive, where the installation wizard would start then it would lock completely. This would occur anywhere from the Time zone setup or assigning a static IP address or specifying a FTP location.
I have found that it takes on a minimum of 3 hard reboots since the server locked up that it the installation wizard loads properly without any lock up and the installation begins without any problems there on.
On the flip side I have another server with IDE CD-ROM drive and ESX 3.0.2 or 3.5 installs successfully without any lock ups.
I know that ESX has problems with SATA CD-ROM drives from reading the forum posts but how about USB portables?
Any ideas?
