Microsoft Cluster with VMware workstation 6.0.2

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a microsoft cluster with a shared quorum disk (Q), i create the disk as a second disk on the first node, but the second node won't boot because the virtual disk is locked by the first node; has anyone tried this out ?

It's all local and we have no SAN lun's to present to 2 nodes as we can do in a ESX environment.

Thanks

I'm not sure MSCS is possible on Workstation. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) But it is possible with Server.

Same problem here - company wont spend either the prod hardware for test or shell out for ESX.

There is a way if you are still in the game...

I assume you just want to get this working for dev and test / etc.

Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone might have managed to get a cluster working on Workstation at all, would be great to know as it would be pretty handy for when you just want to quickly test something, prove a theory or replicate an issue without have to touch your ESX environment.

Cheers,

Patrick

I think I got it working:

I didn't have a requirement to install anything on it (SQL etc), but it looked to work in Workstation with Windows 2000 Clustering Services.
