Based on your signature, it sounds like you got the wrong forum. Even though Ubuntu 7 isn't an officially supported guest, I've found 7.04 runs just fine on Fusion (7.10 has some xorg issues).

Nope, this is the right place :smileyblush: I have all intention to move on to Mac, it's hard to resist - the current MacMini is great value.

As you may know my current WS 5.5.1 does not FULLY support Ubuntu 7 (mtrr: your processor doesn't support write-combining) , and I don't think, but I have no proof, that 5.5.1

supports Compiz-Fusion

So yeah time to move on to Mac and get the Fusion - when it fully supports Ubuntu 7 (and more Guest OSs)

$ compiz --version

Checking for Xgl: not present.

No whitelisted driver found

aborting and using fallback: /usr/bin/metacity

metacity 2.20.0

I'm not familiar with compiz or what it does... but here's what it kicks back. I guess I should note I have the accelerated 3D graphics option off... not sure if thats effecting this.

supports Compiz-Fusion

Compiz-fusion relies on OpenGL. Fusion (as well as all other VMware products) does not currently support OpenGL acceleration in the guest.
