I'm getting the error listed below during various conversions, using either the stand-alone converter, or the built-in. The latest was an attempted conversion of a remote Win2k system (logs attached) from my local XP/SP2 box ... image being created on a USB book drive. Any help is appreciated.

For some reason it seems like it fails to write to the destination. Do you always see the error at the same stage of the import? Were you able to try other sources/destinations?
Thanks for the quick reply.
The error always seems to occur towards the end of cloning the last
drive, in this case drive E: ...e.g. it runs for quite a while after
reporting it's cloning drive E:, before the failure is reported. I've
seen this same error occur when attempting to "import" my local system,
but on my local system it occurs on drive F: which is the last drive.
The common thread here is that Converter was running local and the image
was being created on a USB drive. I've installed Converter on the
remote system, and mapped a drive back to my local system to store the
image. We'll see how that goes.
don
first, upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 --> www.vmware.com/downloads/converter and install/run as the local admin
next, run a chkdsk ./f on the source for the problematic partitions
if you are resizing the disk, then also defrag the partitions
Both were done previously, but I'll run them again.
Just to clarify, in both logs the problem appears to be with the target disk, so you need to run chkdsk on the target.
Chkdsk and Defrag were run on all source and target disks, prior to
attempting the imports. An interesting thing to note is that the
failure always occurs while cloning the last drive, regardless of the
system. I've tired importing from 2 remote systems, and from the local
system. The systems each have a different number physical and logical
drives.
I would need to see the diskmanagement screenshot of the physical machine
I would also be curious to know what is running on that partition - any services such as a file share, antivirus, etc?
alternatively, convert all drives but this one and simply networkcopy/robocopy the data over to an empty VM (additional/attached) disk
