How do I keep a Guest OS from locking files across "shared folders" on the host

I am using VMWare Workstation 6.02 to test an installer that I am working. The host OS is XP SP2 and the guest OS is Server 2003. I compiler the installer on the host and run it on the guest. If I map a driver letter from the host to the guest via "net use" and Windows networking, everything is good. If I use the VMWare "Shared Folders" to access the host from the guest, the guest keeps any file that I run locked, even after I exit the program. I can not update the installer unless I restart the VMWare session. If I use Windows Networking, noi problem. Is this a limitation of VMWare's "Shared Folders" or is there a setting I can set to fix this?

thanks,
