Moving a virtual machine

Total newbie, I hope this is the right place to post this.....

I want to create a virtual Windows machine (guest) to run in Linux (host). However, I have Workstation for Windows, not Linux. Can I create a Windows virtual machine in windows then "transfer" it to Linux and run it in Linux with Player?

Yes It should "just work".

VMs are not 100% portable.

You have to adjust a few things in the VMX file (references to the CDROM and the like).
