Move Virtual Machine uuid.bios problem

Hi

I must move a virtual machine to another host. I have moved a few virtual machines, with no problem, but i have a problem with a Virtual Machine that have CA DMS(Desktop Manager Suite) software. The uuid.bios is different when I clone/move this VM, since the DMS look for the hardware uuid.bios etc., the software services don't start. After starting the Software i see that the DMS found two machines, the new one, and the old one.

So i need to clone/move the VM without changing the uuid.bio. How can i do this?

PS: I am using the VM converter to move the VM between hosts, since my VMotion is not running yet

Thank you

Have you tried just a cold migration between hosts? Converter is going to create a new machine on the target, not move the existing machine, that will always create a new uuid. If you cold migrate them at power up you should get prompted for the choice of create, keep, always create or always keep the uuid. I would choose always keep.

Hi TCronin

Thank for your reply

Yes using migration between hosts (in Virtual Center) is ok, but since I do not have my Vmotion working(no gigabit connection waiting for a new switch ) I cannot use this.

When I trie to use VMotion I get a warning that I do not have FULL 1000 link.

So I think I cannot use this.

PS: But if i power off the VM i can. I have not remenber this Smiley Sad

JailBreak
