VMware announces the general availability of the VI Perl Toolkit 1.0, an easy-to-use interface to create scripts that automate remote management of your VMware Infrastructure. The toolkit can be used with VirtualCenter and the VMware ESX Server.
The toolkit includes several ready-to-run utility applications that automate common system administration tasks such as inventory, host and VM reconfiguration, and VM lifecycle operations. The utilities are written using VMware-recommended best practices and can be used as-is or customized to your environment.
VI Perl Toolkit 1.0 can be downloaded from http://www.vmware.com/download/sdk/ and is available in several forms:
\- installer for Linux
\- installer for Windows (includes ActiveStates ActivePerl®)
\- virtual appliance for VMware Server, Workstation, and Player
\- virtual appliance for VMware ESX Server
\- tarball of source code files (for manual installation)
