vSphere 5.5U2 VST Tagging Intel Pro 1000 VT Quad Port issues

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is a HW related issue and would welcome any troubleshooting tips.

What I have is 5.5U2 cluster with intel pro 1000vt across the servers.

So my network was broken into Single VLAN per vmnic, and it worked flawlessly.

Recently had to introduce secondary and tertiary VLANs through a single vmnic.

Kernel Port VLAN 20

PortGroup1 VLAN 20

PortGroup2 VLAN 2020

PortGroup3 VLAN 2021

On the physical side I have this vmnic going to a trunk port on a HP1810G switch.

The switchport is tagging VLAN 20,2020,2021.

Router-on-stick (Sophos) is running virtual subinterfaces to do Inter-VLAN routing for 20,2020 and 2021.

When I add machines on the secondary and tertiary VLANs on vSphere, no IP address is obtained through DHCP.

When I try to assign an static IP address, the default gateway cannot be reached.

It is apparent the VST is not working when additional VLAN/PortGroups are introduced,

It is however working fine for the first vlan (VLAN 20) regardless of anything.

What is ur Portgroup loadbalancing policy? Can you change it to IP-HASH.

I think the default TRUNK setting on hp switches configure a static etherchannel on the port.
