vNetwork Distributed Switches

I read somewhere it said,

"The Cisco Nexus 1000V Series is VMware Ready Certified to be compatible with VMware vSphere as a vNetwork Distributed Switch with support for VMware ESX and ESXi hypervisors and integration with VMware vCenter Server"

My question is, can Cisco Nexus 1000V impliment in vSphere 4 without vNetwork Distributed Switch.

Thanks

Third-party vSwitches, such as the Nexus 1000V, require support for vNetwork distributed switches. This means that you must have the Enterprise Plus licensing for vSphere in order to take advantage of the Nexus.

The vNetwork APIs used by third party distributed switches are only for distributed switches.
