Hi All,
i'm trying to get rid of a distributed switch from the vcenter but it comes up with an error message box:
'The resourse 'c-921' is in use. DVS dvSwitch01 port c-921 is connectwd to entity <not-found.>vnic vmk1, type:hostVmkVnic'
i've delete the port groups, made sure no hosts are attached.
if i try to edit the uplinks it says one of the uplinks is in use by the teaming policy defined at DVPort c-921
so how do i remove port c-921 when nothing is connected to it?
thanks in advance.
Hello.
Try connecting directly to the host with the vSphere client and removing it.
Good Luck!
sorry i don't understand - i don't have any hosts conected to the switch i'm trying to remove
Instead of using the vSphere client to connect to vCenter, use it to connect directly to the ESX(i) host that the dvSwitch is on. You are going to bypass vCenter completely and go directly to the ESX(i) host.
i dont have any hosts to connect to - i have already removed them (only 2 nodes) and re-installed esxi onto them in trying to get rid of this dvswitch.
i have had it now so there are no hosts at all connected - just the standalone vcenter. therefore by my reckoning the config for the dvswitch must also be kept on the vcenter itself.
the question is where? i guess i need to manually hack it out of somewhere on the vcenter?
thanks
finally fixed it! i discovered if i went into the porperties of the port and then the teaming part, there was still an associated uplink in the active links. i moved this down to unsed and then i was able to remove the dvswitch.
Hi to all.
I've the same problem.
I moved dvuplink down to unsed, but I unable to remove vds yet.
Thanks for all suggestions
Hi,
Try some of the troubleshooting steps listed here, they might be of help:
Best,
Dobrinka
Hello,
hosts and vm are already disconnected.
I don't have vDS on hosts
Anyone have any more ideas? I move the uplink down to the "unused uplinks" but it puts it back to the active uplinks when I press OK so still can't delete the distributed switch. I'm doing this on vcenter 7.0.3
nevermind I figured it out. I had to go to each esxi host and delete the vmkernels associated with the dswitch then I was able to delete the dswitch itself.
