so far I'm under the impression I have two options..

1. nat my public ips into private ips that are accessible to both hosts. I see many cons to this method.

2. assign a vSwitch portgroup on each host into a separate nic into a physical switch

3. use 802.1q (vlan trunking) and do same as #2 on 1 nic..

Got this working using just essentials and a basic vSwitch with vlan trunking on seperate port groups.. Completely virtual from the f/w down on multiple redundant esxi host..

Next hurdle, Citrix Netscaler VPX...

Are you out there? Can you expand a bit on how you got your two esxi hosts configured with one vyatta? I would be interested as I have deployed one esxi host with a virtual vyatta machine and several other vms. Now I want to add a second esxi host. Network configuration is still a bit of a black box for me. Learning, but the climb is steep. Can you share network config settings and maybe network graph from each of your esxi hosts?

Thanks.....
