can't add/remove host from dvs

i have an esx host that was rebuilt but the object was never actually removed from VC. once rebuilt it was reconnected. the DVS thinks that this host is a member of the DVS but when looking at the configuration on the host it is not. i can't seem to add the host or remove the host.

anyone have any idea how to resolve this? i'd like to actually get the host back as a member of the DVS

have you tried completely removing it from VC then re-adding the host?

What version of VC are you running? I believe this was an issue that was fixed with u1 -

Check and make sure that host doesnt have a vm or template still connected.

i was able to resolve this. i created a new DVS and migrated all of my port groups over. it allowed me to do that. i am running VC4.0 U1. after all migrated i was able to delete the original DVS
