Hello everyone. while we setup our new Vsphere 6.7 host server, we created the standard switch ok, the port group ok, but when trying to configure the VMKernel port we have some issues. our variable subnet mask of 10.1.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 is not allowed for some reason. able to configure this in Vsphere 6.0 ok. we have several networks like this 10.2.2.0 255.255.255.0, 10.3.3.0 255.255.255.0 none of them will work on this 6.7 Vsphere server.
Any help is appreciated very much
Thank you all
Hello everyone.
We resolved our own problem, we downloaded the latest or last Vsphere hypervisor 6.7 then upgrade our host to this build, and we are able to add classless IP subnet masks. Perhaps there is a bug in this iso file VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.7.0.update02-13006603.x86_64
thank you all, have a Blessed day.
Configure static routes for vmkernel ports. You cannot add a new gateway for an existing subnet in the vmkernel as you cannot have two default gateway.
I'm not sure you are answering my question or for someone else. We are installing new vSphere 6.7 servers, the network requirement is to have a virtual switch with a Port group, and add the VMkernel port with an IP address with a default gateway as our uplink to the outside. We setup the virtual switch, the Port Group just fine, not able to setup the VMkernel port as stated because we are using a 24-bit mask /24 or 255.255.255.0 for our 10.1.1.0, 10.2.2.0, 10.3.3.0 10.4.4.0 networks as the VMkernel port requires a full mask for the ten addressing or /8-bit mask for some reason. That's why I'm asking for help as we have never seen this before. I changed the IP mask to support the /8-bits 255.0.0.0 this then works. Please someone help us figure out why, we can't change the whole network by adding two or three vSphere 6.7 Host servers.
Thank you all so much
