Using NSX with Virtual I/O

Suppose you have a solution that provides virtualized I/O already in place such as Cisco UCS with a fabric extender or Oracle Xsigo Fabric Interconnect.

Your Virtual I/O device is allowing you to trunk 10Gb connections from your physical switch to the virtual I/O device.  Then from the virtual I/O devices (UCS or Oracle), you are carving up virtual NICs to present to the ESXi host.  The ESXi host then sees these vNICs as though they were physical NICs.

Now enter NSX.  You want to use NSX to allow you to do things like provision new vLANs and present them to vSphere without having to reconfigure physical switches each time.

What is the impact of NSX on your virtual I/O solution?  Are there any changes that need to be made to your virtual I/O solution in light of your NSX solution?   Are they completely transparent to one another?
