Hi all,
We have vCenter 4.0 and ESX 4.0 Servers and we want to upgrade to 4.1 version. But also Nexus 1000v installed on ESX server and vCenter.i found VMware KB that is http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102464... . But only ESX server upgrade is explained on this KB, what about vCenter??? Our vcenter 4.0 is installed on Windows 2003 64-bit with SQL 2005 64-Bit.
Can we upgrade vcenter with Nexsus 1000v plug-in installed by in-place upgrade without problem?? And how to do this? What are the effects of Nexus1000v plug-in that installed on vcenter server during upgrade??
Nexus1000v 4.0.(4).sv1(3a) version was installed on ESX servers.
Regards
Mecyon,
Upgrading from vSphere 4.0 -> 4.1 you will need to update the VEM software (.vib) also. The plugin for vCenter is not going to change, nor will anything on your VSM(s). The only thing you need to update is the VEM on each host. See the matrix previoulsy posted above for the .vib to install once youre host has been updated.
Note - After this upgrade you'll be able to independently update your vSphere host or 1000v software (without having to update the other). The 1000v VEM dependencies were removed as of vSphere 4.0 Update 2.
Regards,
Robert
See compatibility matrix link below.
Are you planning on upgrading your ESX hosts or performing a full re-install?
