Trouble adding Hosts to vDS (vsphere)

Hi,

We upgraded our ESX 3.5 Server to vsphere 4.0

The upgrade when very well and so fare everything is working perfectly.

The only issue that I have is when I create a virtual distributed switch (vDS) i'm not able to add a host or a physical adapter ... weid, the option is just disabled. I have 6 NICs, 5 of them are already configured on a vSwitch and one NIC is available.

Did someone experience this before ?

Thanks !

Not wanting to ask the obvious here but do you have enterprise or enterprise plus vSphere licenses. as vDS is aonly available with the Enterprise Plus option and that is a costed upgrade.

I think it's pretty lame that the stock vDS switch is not included in the Enterprise package. I can understand the Cisco Nessus being in a higher priced category but vDS should be in the Enterprise tier. We payed for a maxed out ESX 3.5 Enterprise + platinum support contract for 20 cpu liceneses with promise of a full upgrade a year ago. It's not going to be possible to go back and ask for more budget on our five year deal (yes we negotitated a longer deal than usual).

I suggest you guys reconsider adding vDS without the Nexxus in the Enterrpise tier.

Otherwise I'm a happy customer.
