SRIOV in ESXi

When I use SRIOV in ESXi, does the network traffic of a VM get processed as normal by the ESXi kernel, or does it bypass the kernel to go directly to the physical NIC?

If SRIOV is enabled in the VM, the traffic will bypass the hypervisor. However, it does limit certain features of vSphere. Please reference this VMware KB.
