Mixing vendor NICs with nic teaming

Has anyone ever had any issues teaming network ports from different vendors such as broadcom and Intel?
Is there an official VMware best practice related to this configuration?

Thanks, -Jeff

we have done it for few of our implementation when such mix vendor nic appears, we just take it as tho' it's another port ..  as our case we're doing active-passive nic teaming .. hence i do not see any problem ..

It should work no problem, but I would avoid it if possible.

It just means another product you have to support.

It works and there is no docs that specify that is not supported.

IMHO: in this case I use the simplest team policy (Port ID based) to avoid any possible "compatibility" problems.

Just some advise on this. I have had problems by combining Intel and Broadcom.

If you are using DRS enabled cluster vm's that vmotion to other host and traffic changes from the intel to broadcom or the other way the vm's looses link for a period. According to Dell they dont suggest you do this. I have changed my setup to only intel cards and it solved the problem
