Migrating to vDS

I cannot seem to get this to work without losing my ESX host.  I'm following vsphere-vnetwork-ds-migration-configuration-wp.pdf but it's not cutting it.

I have a setup that is already working with the traditional vSwitches but whenever I try to relocate my nics to the vDS I lose the host and need to restore my standard switch.

This is so frustrating.  Any suggestions?

It seems there was something my network manager had to do on the physical switches.  I was specifying a VLAN but the switches were using that VLAN as their default so there was no need to put in on the vport.  After removing the VLAN from the management port it all worked.

He corrected the issue this morning and all is well now.
