Link Aggregation and HP ProCurve Switches

Hello,

I have a an iSCSI SAN with HP Procurve 2910al switches and a four node vSphere cluster.

I would like to configure link aggregation on a number of the ESX Port Groups to enable more bandwidth to the SAN and also to the Production LAN. This is something I have done numerous times using Cisco switches (typically 3750G stacks).

On Cisco, I do the following :

  • Make sure the switch stack load balance algorith is set to 'src-dst-ip'

  • Create a Port Channel Group using a port from each switch, and configure it for 'mode on' (static ether channel)

  • Connect my two uplinks from my vSwitch to the ports, and configure the Port Group load balancing algorith for 'Route based on IP hash'

Easy! Works like a charm.....

What I need to know is how to do the same config on Procure kit. I know LACP 802.3ad is not supported by ESX vSwitches, so how do I achive the same thing?

It's called trunking on hp Procurves. Assign a Trunk (Trkx) to the designated ports.
