Home setup

Hello,

I currently need help with the design of a setup. I am unsure if I can do this..

So basically here is my setup:

Home router (internet connection) ---> Dell rack server <--- LAN Router (no internet connection just plugged in to the rack server).

Now I have ESXi on my rack server (rack server has 2 nics) and need to configure a few VMs for development use for my new project. There are several of us in a team and I need to isolate the VMs from my home network as best as possible.. However I still need them to retain internet connection to the Home Router. I do not want them being able to see any devices connected to my home router (such as printers etc).

Is this possible with the use of VSwitches etc?

Please could you advise on this.

Thanks for ur help in advanced.

You can create a router VM (with Linux and iptables/NAT for example) and then an internal vSwitch without any uplinks. The vSwitch funcionality by itself will not help you on this.

Do you need the manage the ESXi network from your internal network?

Do you want to only access the VMs from the Internet?

If so, it should be possible with just the vSwitches.
