ESX5 and NIC 10gb - Problems

Hello everyone, and thanks in advance for your  help

I have ESX 5 in a server with a 10gb nic. This nic is used by only one VM. The Operating system of this machine is Red Hat. The problem is that I cant do that Red hat see the 10gb bandwith.

The ESX recognice the 10gb nic without problems.

Firstable I have assigned to the Red hat an E1000 emulation Virtual nic. But doesnt work. After this, I used the proper script to create the e1000e emulation, but this option doesnt work.

How can I assign to the Red Hat VM the 10gb nic?

Thanks

Hello,

to utilize the full bandwidth of a 10Gb link in a VM you need to use the vmxnet3 adapter for this VM. Otherwise you will be limited to 1Gb.

According to http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1001805 vmxnet3 is supported with RHEL 5.0 and above (both 32-bit and 64-bit).

You need to have the VMware Tools installed inside the VM to have the vmxnet3 driver available.
