In ESXi one can create a vSwitch and not link a plink to the vSwitch. This allow for connectivity for the VMs connected to that switch.
Is there a similar option for vSphere? We like to creted this distributed switches but not having to add an uplink.
THis will allow for comunication between the VM but does not affect the physical network.
Any suggestions?

Hi!
You can have a distributed switch without uplink but If you're considering using it across boxes it won't work. Distributed switch requires uplinks to communicate between ESX'es.

It is possible to add distributed switches without physical uplinks.

Forgot to include that - yes without an uplink a dSwitch won't talk across ESX hosts.
