We are evaluting this VLAN type and are having issues getting this to work. We are trunking VLANs down from the switch to the physical server. From there we are creating a distributed switch with the VLAN trunking mode turned on (for example 1-5). When I point a VM's NIC to this port group (static IP configured in the O/S) there is no connectivity whatsoever to the VLAN that I am trying to connect to. I then change the VLAN type to specify a VLAN and point the VM's NIC to it and then it works. I know that all the VLANs are getting to the ESXi Host. What gives? Am I missing something here?
