Connected at 10.0 Gbps?

I just removed an e1000 adapter from a 64-bit 2003 guest and added a new VMXNET3 adapter. Booted back into Windows, followed MS KB steps to remove the old ghosted/hidden network adapter from device mgr (), gave the new adapter it's ipconfig and noticed it's showing connected at 10.0 Gbps. We do not have any 10 gigE on our ESX hosts -- is this normal to see this? It's set to autonegotiate speed & duplex in device mgr, nic properties (default). Is it normal to experience this and should I just hardcode it to 1Gbps? I'd prefer it to auto-negotiate at the proper speed.

Thanks,

-Brian

vmxnet3 is 10G virtual nic so what you are seeing is expected behavior.

It's normal and you should leave it be, especially if you've got other VMXNET3 guests on the same box, as it will allow communication between them at faster than 1Gbit/s.
