From the following URL, I am puzzled whether we can create vNetwork distrbuted switch with our existing Enterprise Edition.

If the answer is YES, could any fellow elaborate on "Enabler for 3rd party switch support" ? Currently, we are using switches from DELL.
Thanks
as stated Enterprise Plus licensing is needed for a vNetwork Distributed Switch. You can create one under Enterprise licensing, but don't be fooled, you can't use it.
Maybe VMware will someday take away the ability to even create one based on the licensing model.
I believe you - what is being referred to by 3rd party support is referencing the Cisco Nexus 1000v distributed virtual switch -

Dear David,
Thanks for your advice.
My understanding from your reply is that we are able to create vNetwork Distributed Switch but not able to use the CISCO NEXUS 3rd party support ?
Thanks again
My understanding was that you needed Enterprise Plus for either VMware DVS or Cisco Nexus 1000V.
Unless something changed recently in the licensing structure.
louis
Is still the same.
Enterprise Plus is required:

You'll need to either be running in evaulation mode, or Enterprise Pls.
If you want to test first, just get an eval license and test it in your lab
next, consult your supplier to get the pricing difference.
Now, weigh up whether the addons justify the extra cost,
