Beacon probing cannot be used with IP hash load balancing.

I read this in one website but I would like to know the reason for this?

Is it beacuse IP hash uses source and destination IP to select the path and thus for beaconing, it can only detect the link failure for one of the two path?

Is there some VMware user guide or documentation that talks about this that I can read up on this subject?

Please take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1012819 and the links provided in this KB. This explains why beacon probing does not work with EtherChannel.
